ScanScreen offers you a tailored screening package to meet your health needs.
Some conditions, such as testicular and prostate cancer, only affect men. Others, however, although they can occur in both men and women, are more prevalent in one sex than the other. Whilst women are more prone to breast cancer and osteoporosis, heart disease is more common among men. As a man you are also six times more likely to suffer an aortic aneurysm (weakening in the wall of your main abdominal artery - when undiscovered aortic aneurysms rupture it is usually fatal) than a woman.
At ScanScreen, we offer you a thorough range of medical checks with two complementary packages to achieve a comprehensive check: Ultrascreen and Complescreen. In addition to screening for heart disease and for lung and bowel cancers, our specially devised screening for men includes ultrasound scans of the carotid arteries and abdomen, and checks for warning signs of testicular and prostate cancers, and osteoporosis. A blood test measures cholesterol levels and prostate specific antigen. |

Ultrascreen for Men
We recommend that you use Ultrascreen once every two years.
It is an affordable, highly accurate method for the early detection of the most common serious diseases affecting the over-40s. It scans for cancers and other diseases of the prostate, abdomen (including aortic aneurysms), carotid blood vessels (checking for the risk of a stroke) and the scrotum for testicular cancer.
Ultrascreen uses ultrasound, and does not emit radiation.
Please note: we can scan separately for particular diseases, for those who have special concerns, i.e. those with a family history of certain cancers. |

Complescreen
Complescreen provides a comprehensive care package, examining a wide range of the body’s systems for cancers and other common diseases. We recommend that you use Compliscreen every five years starting at age 45. It consists of the full Ultrascreen package as well as a low-dose CT body scan, checking for lung cancer and cancer of the bowel as well as heart disease. These three are diseases that we don’t need to screen for as regularly as those in the Ultrascreen package. If, however, you are a smoker and over 40 you could have chest scan every 12 months.
Please note: as with Ultrascreen, all three scans can be done individually for those with particular concerns. |

Further Information
Used together, the two ScanScreen packages, Ultrascreen and Complescreen, offer an unparalleled in-depth and affordable long-term health monitoring package.
Remember: regular screening brings peace of mind, and it can also save lives. Some conditions present no obvious symptoms until they are far advanced. However, regular screening can enable us to detect the development of diseases at an early stage, making a huge difference to the chances of achieving a successful cure.
Scans are carried out and read by Dr Walker an experienced diagnostic and interventional radiologist. |
